Electronic Roughs

Creating this spread was about using colors and visuals to tell a powerful story. Red dominated, bringing urgency and intensity to the message. I picked Franklin Gothic for a bold, modern touch and Georgia for readability, aiming to strike a balance between impact and approachability. Graphic photos added emotion, aiming to show the harsh reality of discrimination. Playing with transparency created layers, symbolizing the obscured truth surrounding these issues. I crafted vectors like glasses with words about discrimination, acting as a symbolic lens for readers. Light piercing through pages represented the need to shine a light on societal injustices. X marks on an image of a black person highlighted society's neglect, urging reflection on harsh realities. In big letters, "I can't breathe" took center stage, echoing today's urgent societal cry. This spread aimed for simplicity with a strong message. It's about sparking thought and inspiring collective actio...

Data Visualization

Image
My design, I showcased the top five countries with the most immigrants by placing their flags on a world map. This visual representation helps viewers quickly grasp the geographic distribution of high immigration. Accompanying this, I included a straightforward graph displaying the actual numbers for each country, making the data easily understandable. To maintain simplicity and neatness, I organized the information in a grid layout. This structure ensures a logical arrangement of elements, making it user-friendly. I also used a sans-serif font for easy reading, ensuring that the text is clean and straightforward. For the color scheme, I stuck with calming gray and blue tones to create a professional and visually pleasing look. This choice aims to maintain a clean and uncluttered design while conveying a sense of order and reliability. The overall goal of the design is to provide a clear and accessible visualization of immigration data, making it easy for viewer...

Embarking on this journey to tackle racism through design feels both empowering and daunting. I want to walk you through the core of our approach, shedding light on the decisions we're making and the messages we're aiming to convey . Translating Data into Visual Stories: Data can be a labyrinth, but our goal is to simplify. Visuals will be our storytellers, transforming intricate trends into narratives that speak volumes. The intent is not just to info...

What is Editorial Design

Editorial Design:           In this video on editorial design, two critical aspects are highlighted. First, the use of a grid system is emphasized, alike to a building's frame providing structure, allowing creativity within defined boundaries. Consistency across pages is stressed, especially in brochures, ensuring readers quickly grasp the hierarchy without confusion. This ensures a sense of harmony, that entertains the users when interacting with the design. The second focus is on the incorporation of time, with the layout guiding readers through a narrative. For instance, a full-bleed photo after a text-heavy section encourages reflection. Examining practical examples, a book employs rules like consistent grid use for body copy and distinctive styles for different languages, enhancing content focus. Another book employs a conservative layout, allowing playful use of a vibrant color. A cookbook utilizes full-page photos for recipes, maintaining a consisten...
